Unfortunately, the most common question people search about God on the internet is “does God hate me?”
This question is heartbreaking and shows that people wonder why God does not love them. These people face grief, pain, guilt, shame, and anger, which affect their self-esteem. They may be dealing with great loss and feeling a profound sense of depression, unworthiness, and self-hate.
But that doesn’t mean that God hates you. Here’s why.
God Doesn’t Hate You
Whenever you feel unloved or forgotten, remember that this doesn’t represent God or His grace and glory. All good things are from God. What is bad and sinful in the world is due to mankind’s sinful nature.
It can be difficult to grasp this concept when you feel like you started life off at a disadvantage. But according to the Bible, nothing evil for you comes from God because the Lord loves you. (James 1:16-18)
God’s Wrath Is Fatherly Love
People often confuse God’s fatherly love with His wrath. The deepest and purest love you’d ever experience doesn’t always feel like love at the moment. But when you reflect, later on, you’d realize it was always loved and never hated.
Those who live for worldly flesh desires and don’t change course by the power of the Spirit face eternal death. Those who trust in Christ will never taste the wrath of God and find victory over their desires.
Any suffering you’re going through is a reminder of your battle against sin that purifies your soul. Your hardships only test you. Your suffering and loss can’t separate you from the Lord’s love. (Romans 8:39)
Instead, the pain you experience is like a fatherly punishment. It’s a discipline from heaven and not wrath from hell. Life without this punishment is scarier because it won’t purify us of our sins.
However, not all sufferings are blessings. This happens when the person refuses to believe and repent. Those unaware of their selfishness, greed, and disobedience persistently sin, and those who persist in their sin without listening to the Lord are condemned.
The difference between fatherly punishment and wrath is if the person renews their faith and trust in the Lord and repent for their sins.

The Depth of God’s Love
God’s love is not based on rewards or punishments but His grace. Grace is God’s unmerited and undeserved favor. You don’t have to earn anything to get it. God loves all of us regardless of our skin color, race, and economic status. (Exodus 34:6)
The greatest gift of God’s love is His son, who manifested as Jesus Christ. God gives eternal life to all who believe in His son. Those who repent, confess their sins, and believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will be saved by God and pronounced not guilty.
